Janna Fonseca received her Bachelor’s Degree in Sports Medicine and Athletic Training from Southwest Missouri State University in 2002. She pursued her Master’s Degree in Educational Administration from the University of Nebraska – Lincoln where she also worked as the athletic trainer for the Cornhuskers Women’s Basketball Team. Following one year as an assistant athletic trainer at Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska she joined Carolina Family Practice & Sports Medicine. Janna was named the head athletic trainer at CFPSM in September 2006. In her current role, Janna oversees the sports medicine program including community outreach and in-house sports medicine care for the 14 provider practice. She also serves as the clinical coordinator of the Carolina Sports Concussion Clinic.
Janna’s husband Jose, also a certified athletic trainer, works with the men’s basketball team at Duke University. They reside in Durham with their children Pete & Alexis.
